The logistics industry in Vietnam is expected to grow by 12-14% in 2019 thanks to its favorable strategic geographical location, consistent economic growth and strong trade development, along with the international economic integration and the successful signing of free trade agreements (FTAs), most recently are the Trans-Pacific Partnership and Progress Partnership (CPTPP) and the Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the EU (EVFTA).

According to the World Bank Report on Logistics Performance Index (LPI) published on 24thJuly, 2018, Vietnam ranked 39 out of 160 participants from other countries, up 25 ranks compared to 2016 and stood currently at 3rd place among ASEAN countries.

Logistics activities play an important role in economic development. There are about 23,000 companies involved in providing logistics services, of which 3,000 companies expand their logistic activities internationally, mainly located in Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces (about 70%). German logistics companies are currently present in Vietnam market including Logwin Air + Ocean Vietnam Co. Ltd, Karl Gross, Deutsche Post, DB Schenker ...

Germany is the most important partner country in the EU of Vietnam, with total export and import turnover in 2018 reaching EUR 13.9 billion, which is a new record in trade relation between the two countries. After the EVFTA agreement was officially signed on 30thJune, 2019 in Hanoi, there will be numerous great opportunities as well as new challenges awaiting Vietnamese companies.

Workshop’s content

In order to help Vietnamese companies to get a greater depth in understanding different forms of transporting goods from Vietnam to Germany, essential ICOTERMS, common mistakes when transporting to Germany, the quality standards of the logistics industry as well as some positive impacts of the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Vietnam on businesses and logistics industry, the German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam is collaborating with German logistics company Logwin Air + Ocean Vietnam Co. Ltd to organize a workshop with the title " Logistics Vietnam - Germany – Opportunities through EVFTA" in Ho Chi Minh City on 11th September 2019 and in Hanoi on 13th September 2019.

Country Director of Logwin Air + Ocean Vietnam Co. Ltd. He is 38 years old and has already 19 years in the logistics industry. He has a bachelor’s degree of Transport Management & Operations. For 4.5 years in Vietnam and before that he had spent 8 years in Germany and 8 years in China.

Currently he is the Chair of the Transport & Logistics Sector Committee in EuroCham, actively engaged in lobbying in Vietnam and the Chair of Vocational Training of Freight Forwarding in Vietnam.
