The Supply Chain Diligence Act of Germany (LkSG) was approved by the German Parliament in 2021 and officially took effect on January 1, 2023. This law obliges German companies within its scope of application to assess and control risks to people and the environment in their business. The Supply Chain Diligence Act is also being discussed and approved by Europe, and the application area is expected to be wider than German law.
According to the law, the responsibility of due diligence in the supply chain does not stop at compliance and implementation within German enterprises but must extend to relationships and links with suppliers and relevant partners, namely Vietnamese suppliers and partners. If Vietnamese enterprises participate in the German supply chain, it is very important to raise awareness of the requirements of German brands. This is a challenge, but also an opportunity for Vietnamese suppliers to increase their competitive strengths and improve capacity.
Some risks to people and the environment within the business and in the supply chain can be listed as child labor, forced labor; measures to ensure minimum labor safety in enterprises; the most common violations in Vietnamese enterprises, etc. By reviewing and identifying common violations, Vietnamese businesses will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of these aspects.
The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) invites businesses to participate in the seminar "Raising Awareness on Supply Chain Due Diligence and Risk Identification (LkSG)".
