Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and Germany is Vietnam's largest EU trading partner. The positive development of recent years will continue in 2024 with expected economic growth of more than 6%.

The strong growth is being driven by the mechanical and plant engineering, energy, automotive, and electronics sectors, among others. The momentum is also reflected in the constant rise in foreign direct investment, which reached a record level of around USD 17.9 billion in 2022.

The free trade agreement concluded with the EU promises further growth potential and an intensification of economic relations between Germany and Vietnam.
