According to the latest update from #VnExpress, Long Thanh International Airport is planned to complete phase one of construction by #2026, with a capacity of serving 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo a year.
The expected look of the soon-to-be passenger terminal’s design and construction are also revealed, using the most modern aviation technologies. Especially, it takes the lotus as the main inspiration and incorporates it into the design of the roof, the main front of the terminal, and the interior of the check-in lobby.
However, the completion of the project has been delayed until at least 2026 due to the failure to select a contractor. As a result, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested that the parties involved review and clarify their responsibility for the delay in a prompt manner.
Phase two of the project aims to increase the capacity to 50 million passengers and 1.5 million tons of cargo per year by adding another runway and a passenger terminal. This phase will be implemented in a roadmap from 2025-2030. Phase three involves completing other tasks to achieve a capacity of 100 million passengers and five million tons of cargo per year, with a roadmap from 2035-2040.
