Vietnam is emerging as a strategic key market for bioenergy in Southeast Asia. Driven by strong economic growth, a rapidly increasing energy demand, and ambitious climate targets, the country offers attractive market opportunities for German companies active in sustainable energy solutions. Against this backdrop, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) is organizing a Bioenergy Business Trip to Vietnam as part of the German Energy Export Initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The five-day business trip aims to provide German companies in the bioenergy sector with structured and practice-oriented access to the Vietnamese market. Vietnam has substantial, yet largely untapped, potential in biogenic residues from agriculture, industry, and urban areas. At the same time, new political and regulatory frameworks—such as the Power Development Plan VIII (PDP 8), the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) decree, and upcoming market-based climate instruments—are creating favorable conditions for investment and cooperation.
The business trip is specifically designed for German providers of bioenergy technologies and services, including manufacturers of biomass and biogas plants, suppliers of waste-to-energy solutions, engineering service providers, and system suppliers in measurement, control, and automation technology, as well as companies specializing in energy management, energy storage, and industrial energy efficiency. The objective is to position German technologies for industrial applications, particularly in the agricultural, food, and processing industries, within the Vietnamese market.
The program combines market intelligence, company presentation, and targeted business matchmaking. Participants will benefit from:
- a comprehensive on-site briefing covering political, legal, and economic framework conditions as well as intercultural aspects of doing business in Vietnam,
- a technical conference where German companies can present their technologies and solutions to a selected Vietnamese professional audience,
- networking formats with decision-makers from industry, energy utilities, government institutions, and public authorities,
- individually arranged B2B meetings with potential business partners, customers, and project developers,
- as well as site visits and group visits to relevant industrial facilities or reference projects, providing hands-on insights into local market requirements and implementation conditions.

The Bioenergy Business Trip to Vietnam is part of the funding program of the German Energy Export Initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and is implemented by DIHK International Service Company Limited (service provider from the AHK Vietnam) in cooperation with eclareon GmbH.
