Our Functions
The Delegation of the German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (GIC/AHK Vietnam) is a representative of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) in the AHK network mentioned above and actively supports the economic exchange between Vietnam and Germany.
The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) is a part of the global network German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHKs) in 140 locations in 92 countries. The German Chambers of Commerce Abroad help German companies to transform national into international success. We build bridges, facilitate access, provide contacts and solve problems. We are the #PartnerWorldwide – for German companies, willing to expand their business activities abroad or which have already established their international presence decades ago.
Our AHK Vietnam office in Hanoi was founded in 1994 and our Ho Chi Minh City office was inaugurated in 2005. We are a private, neutral and non-political organization with the public mandate to promote bilateral trade and investment between Germany and Vietnam. We offer a wealth of services with the trade mark DEinternational including market information, business development, business incubator services, dual vocational training system according to German DIHK standard, ProRecognition service, Ecosystem for start-ups, trade fair participation, marketing and publications as well as event and delegation management.
Our core expertise is our qualified, motivated and experienced team, consisting of 27 Vietnamese and German staff in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. With their long-term excellent contact and personal connections, German and international firms could benefit and save their time in market researching, market entry and trouble shooting.
AHKs combine three functions in their locations:
1. Official Representatives of the German Economy
The AHKs are the central actors of the German foreign trade promotion on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany. They represent the German business interests in corresponding host countries. They provide information and advertise the German location.
2. Services for companies
Under the service brand “DEinternational”, the AHKs support the foreign trade business activities of firms from Germany and the host country.
3. Membership organization (The representation in Vietnam is no membership organization yet)
The AHKs connect to companies which are active in a bilateral economic relationship. Those members give AHKs the authority needed when interacting with politics, business and administration in terms of promoting bilateral business relation.

Due to the double presence in both important cities Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi regarding the economy, the GIC/AHK Vietnam provides German companies sound advice and support on-site, with help of a competent Vietnamese and German staff.
Our consulting and supporting activities
AHK Vietnam offer a free initial consultancy to provide companies with information to evaluate the market potential for their products in Vietnam. Beyond the initial support AHK Vietnam can also provide customised information and organise delegation trips to Vietnam. We regularly carry out market-specific conferences and networking events. For companies, these are good opportunities for both strengthening existing contacts and creating new ones. Additionally, they have the chance to stay informed about the latest developments in Vietnam. Germany is known for its hands-on dual education system, which combines practical training in a company with the complementing curriculum of a vocational college.
Following a common high-level quality standard, AHKs offer services, filling the gap of skilled employees in Vietnam. Due to the double presence in both important cities Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi regarding the economy, the GIC/AHK Vietnam provides German companies sound advice and support on-site, with help of a competent Vietnamese and German staff.
The GIC/AHK Vietnam supports more than 700 companies yearly by providing first information, finding clients, suppliers and investment locations, as well as analyzing market information. Around 10 delegation trips are organized by the GIC/AHK Vietnam.
Furthermore, the AHK is a representative of the fairs in Berlin, Duesseldorf, Nuremberg, and toy fair Nuremberg. Also represented are the Federal states Saxony-Anhalt, Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein. Currently, the GIC/AHK Vietnam implements projects concerning the dual vocational training, consultation.
