Knowing the public holidays in Vietnam is essential for planning business activities, supply chains, human resources, and production processes. According to the current labor regulations, Vietnam will have several nationwide public holidays in 2026 during which employees are generally entitled to time off.

Overview of Public Holidays 2026

  • New Year’s Day: January 1, 2026 (Thursday)
  • Vietnamese New Year (Tết Nguyên Đán): Multi-day holiday around the Vietnamese Lunar New Year (expected in February 2026). The exact period is set annually by the government and includes several consecutive days off.
  • Hung Kings Commemoration Day: 10th day of the third lunar month (expected in April 2026)
  • Reunification Day: April 30, 2026 (Thursday)
  • International Labor Day: May 1, 2026 (Friday)
  • National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: September 2, 2026 (Wednesday)

Notes for Companies

  • If a public holiday falls on a weekend, the day off is usually moved to the next working day.
  • Around Tết (Vietnamese New Year), there are traditionally longer business closures, limited accessibility of authorities, and delays in logistics and production. Early planning is therefore strongly recommended.
  • Regional or company-specific additional regulations may vary depending on the company and industry.

The AHK Vietnam recommends that German companies include the public holidays in their production, travel, and personnel planning at an early stage. We are happy to assist you with questions regarding labor law conditions, personnel management, and operational planning in Vietnam.
